Golf

PUNTA MITA GOLF CLUB

The legendary Jack Nicklaus has designed two spectacular Signature courses at Punta Mita that offer extraordinary ocean views and world-class play. Pacifico, with seven holes directly facing or playing alongside the Pacific Ocean, features spacious fairways and greens and the “Tail of the Whale”, the world’s only natural island golf green. Bahía, Nicklaus’ second championship course in Punta Mita, has five oceanview holes andprovides a perfect complement to its sister course Pacifico by virtue of undulating fairways and greens protected by deep greenside bunkers.

Highly praised by golfers and golfing magazines, this unique championship course was named the #1 Golf Resort in North America and the UK by readers of Condé Nast Traveler in June 2008. The course is set amid vistas of white-sand beaches and the Sierra Madre Mountains on the Eastern horizon. Spread over 200 acres, the course takes full advantage of its seaside location. Seven holes border either the Pacific Ocean or Banderas Bay, and offer views of whales during seasonal migration. Its “Tail of the Whale,” an optional par-3 that plays 180 yards to a natural island green situated in the Pacific Ocean and is the world’s only natural ocean island hole.

The newest addition to Punta Mita’s golfing achievement, this second Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course opened in late 2008 and is as stunning as its sister course. Featuring five ocean holes and playing between 5,180 and 7,030 yards, this championship course rolls through the property of The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, and among the communities of El Encanto, Porta Fortuna and La Punta Estates. The challenging and undulating fairway and green complexes offer a wonderful counterpart to Pacifico for golf aficionados.
