Hans Backhoff

Since 2008, Hans J. Backhoff Guerrero has served as CEO of Monte Xanic, consolidating the winery as Mexico’s leading premium wine producer and positioning Mexican wine in international markets through a strong focus on quality, innovation, and consistency. Under his leadership, the company has earned significant international recognition, expanded its presence across the United States, Europe, and Asia, and strengthened its commitment to sustainability and world-class wine tourism experiences.

Beyond his business leadership, Hans is considered one of the most influential figures in the Mexican wine industry. He has served as President of the Mexican Wine Council and PROVINO Baja California and has represented Mexico before the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), promoting policies that support the sustainable development and global competitiveness of the sector. He holds a degree in Food Industry Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, an MBA from Cardiff University, and pursued studies in oenology in Bordeaux, France, where he worked with renowned wineries such as Calon Ségur and Château Lafite Rothschild.
